Christmas voices

Christmas voices Christmas spirits linger, here Quieted voices whisper, clear Forgotten memories rise, like ghosts Holiday gatherings without hosts Sleigh bells tinkle, lonely sound December's wind blows all around Jack Frost sends cold hot ice Frozen tears, sting one, twice Pine trees bare, except for garland Solitary snowfall in winter's garden 'O Tannenbaum' sung by the choir Echoes round, the lonely hour Haunting silence fills my ears Christmas past collects the tears © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long

another day

another day And yet, another day, falls. As a leaf drops from a branch of a tree, the day falls from the tree, called, life. The day  is no longer green, but brown. All life, taken. The day is spent, no longer free, to enjoy, shining sunlight, beautiful birds, whistling wind, renewing rain. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤

Autumn Scenes: Autumn demands

Point State Park, Pittsburgh, PA Autumn demands Summer's heat  turns to  Autumn's chill. Summer's fun  turns to  Autumn's thrill. Autumn's  color panoply  on every hill. Autumn demands  hue changes. Summer's colors, Autumn rearranges. Green to yellow,  orange,  gold or red, Rainbow's colors  deftly spread. Autumn's breeze  chills the Night. Summer's warmth's  taken flight. Swirling leaves,  twirling,  fall. Brown,  then gather,  then,  a stormy squall. Summer Scenes: Summer Falls

Summer Falls Summer sheds his thermal coat Sun retreats from beaming heat Day gets shorter by cool minutes Skin fades from summer tan Mind recalls summer's fun Heart beats to summer past Evening sends his cooler breeze Moon lingers longer than before Stars appear in different places Body bids for more clothes Nose sneezes at ragweed Feet feel the need for socks Tree shakes off browning leaves Harvest slows his ripened gifts School bids the children come Fun changes ways to enjoy Summer season sadly departs Autumn paints fall colors anew © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ Image:  Michael Gil via Flickr CC

Summer Scenes: Remember

Remember Wind-swept lovers, passion flares, sultry summers, we were there. Balmy evenings, record highs, humidity rising, hearts' surprise. Sun-baked nights, emotion feast,  sweltered heat, love released. Sunset pleasures, ocean side, high-tide rolling, love undenied. Satin sea foam, senses filled, waves of water, we were thrilled.  Season's glory, bright moonlight, sandy beaches, we held tight. Starry heavens, tender touch. cloudless sky, we felt so much. Ocean's echo, seashell sound, flotsam wood-fire, arms around. Seaside music, silk-soft allure, off to dreamland, sleep secure. Low-tide morning, dawn's sweet kiss, dew-filled haze, memory's bliss. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ Image:  By beanworks If you enjoyed this poem find more  here.

Summer Scenes: summer night

summer night summer night A soft crescendo builds at dark, crickets, owls and frogs embark. Moon's transcendent path is set, grass's dew is soft and wet. Summer's wind lifts the trees, scent of pine rides on the breeze. Fireflies blink upon their course, silhouette's glow with no remorse. Horns, whistles, boats and trains, in the distance, sound remains. Rain clouds gather, sudden burst, falling raindrops sate earth's thirst. A lonely echo fills the night, lonesome murmurs, at first light. Sparrows chirp at rising sun, grey-red dawn, night is done. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ Image: By rjshiflet .

In fears

In fears In fears In fears I fight with feckless fury,  losing lengthy bouts, unfraught with glory.  Endless days evolve into light-less fright,  daylight shines the same as night.  Forgotten moments remembered sorely,  feign a laugh in tearful mourning.  Unwanted faces fill my mind,  fractal memories, intertwined. Horror sounds a shrill alarm,  afraid, no escape from misery's harm.  Shiver, shake and tremble loud,  pushing back the blackest shroud.  Nightmares fill my waking hours,  sleep holds back restoring powers.  Unleashed monsters, from dawn to dark,  blinding billows of dark so stark.  Dread pursues from each direction,  never finding calm reflection.  Sagacious specters haunt my life,  with ferocious fervor filled with strife.  Shadows stalk my thoughts and desires,  singe them with infernal fires.  ...

Winter's white

Winter's white  Happy Birthday! Winter's white on display, flakes and flurries at play, give us a snowman today. Delighted children's glee, snow-day means school-free, boots and gloves worn hurriedly. Sleds and snowballs, blessed snowfalls, Jack Frost's fun calls. Voila! Frosty appears, amid "Happy Birthday!" cheers snow rolled up by little dears. Dreams of "White Christmas", hope the snow won't miss us. 25th's snow don't dare diss us. When snow fun disappears, hot chocolate for us appears, frozen fingers, frozen ears. Winter fun can be found, when there's snow around, frozen kid's prints on the ground. © 2013 ajwrites57 A Long ⛄⛄⛄ Snowman Image by:  mnisbett

Santa Sat  Santa sat in calm reflection, his heart was set in one direction, Christmas day is near. Santa Checks His List His opened list, he checked it twice Who was naughty, who was nice, Christmas day is near. Soft white beard, stroked in thought, Making sure no one's forgot. Christmas day is near. Santa's head chock full of names, Who gets dolls and who gets games. Christmas day is near. Santa's workshop in a flurry, Santa pushed the elves to hurry. Christmas day is near. The North Pole filled with jolly hustle, Santa laughs at frantic bustle. Christmas day is near. Santa's Workshop Mrs. Claus feeds and stuffs her man, To make him jolly as she can. Christmas day is near. Toys for Tommy, toys for Jane, No one forgotten, it is plain. Christmas day is near. Mrs. Claus loves to sing, Fa-la-la's when bells do ring. Christmas day is near. Santa’s elves outdo themselves, Stacking toys upon the shelves. ...

dry and brittle

dry and brittle As the pages of life turn dry and brittle, I wonder how so much or how so little. How’ve the days just passed me by? What about what I did and didn’t try? How I’ve lived and how I’ve died, truths I’ve lived and lies I’ve lied. How’ve the days all slipped away? What about lost nights and days? Loves I’ve loved and loves I’ve lost, heads or tales, the coins I’ve tossed. How’ve the days of loving ceased? What about the loves released? Roads I’ve traveled near or far, wishes forgotten, upon a star. How’ve the dreams all gone astray? What about the long, forgotten way? © 2013 ajwrites57 A Long Image by:  By Fredericks at it.wikipedia, CC-BY-SA-3.0 from Wikimedia Commons If you enjoyed this poem, find more  here.

Love Allergy

Love Allergy When Spring-time sends love so dear, sneezes and wheezes, spoil the time of year. When Cupid's love arrow, flings and flies, it sends me itchy, scratchy eyes. When Romance, fills the air, my eyes swell and I shed a tear. When Love Songs begin to play, coughing, coughing comes to stay. When Love Poems sing and rhyme, breaths come slow, breaths out of time. When love triangles abound, I nearly pass out, fall to the ground. When reading love stories that are the rage, my fingers get numb, I can’t turn the page. Love causes these reactions, you see, because I have the dreaded, Love Allergy. © 2013 ajwrites57 A Long Image By kodomut via flickr I have to say this post was inspired by the dear and inspiring +Adrianna Joleigh If you've ever read any of her posts, you will find the wittiest, talented, and sweetest G plussers commenting. The consensus was that it is better to have a Love Allergy than to be immune to love. If y...

Life Without Color

Someone asked, "What would your life be without color?"  I answered,  "My life would be pallid and pale without color.  Each day would be drab, dreary and dismal.  There'd be no primary colors, no rainbows,  no yellow sunshine, no red-blue-yellow sunsets  and no white clouds. No white snow or black storm clouds.  I'd walk in an indistinct and neutral existence.  No green  trees, no green  grass, no blue seas, no blue skies,  would leave me cheerless and dry. My face would not turn red  with anger or embarrassment. My face would not turn white  with fear or pain. I'd not grow green with envy.  Nothing would be just black and white.  My life would be full of motionless emotion,  if there were no color. © 2013 ajwrites57 Image URI:  http://mrg.bz/fwDYZp Image URI:  http://mrg.bz/g6haeq By  Hairysuncold Please find my other writings on Hub...

Last of July

Last of July Last of July, summer slippin’ away. Past the middle of my Life; today feels that way. Tomorrow’s yesterday. More is left behind, than what lies ahead. Losing count of the days. The day is hot, sun setting; cool breeze on the rise. Feel the sting of lost days, burning my eyes. The past has passed, is past. Hope is far away, hope has gone to stay. Last of July, summer slippin’ away. Sun goin’ down, Tomorrow soon today. © 2013 ajwrites57 Image URI:  http://mrg.bz/FiQoBd By  frankybaby If you enjoyed this poem, read my other work on  Hubpages.
