two faces

two faces each one has two faces, each face plays a part, each one shows traces, of a traitor in the heart. each one makes decisions, each face turns aside, each one shows divisions, of betrayals that they hide. each one loves another, each face from the start, each face shows a brother, of deception made an art. each one tries to cover, each face turns aside, each failure to be faithful, each face that has denied. each one weeps together, each face sheds real tears, each painful deed tethers, each heart full of fears. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ By Bryan Derksen, CC-BY-SA-3.0, via Wikimedia Commons

ways gone by

ways gone by The rolling hills of yesteryear,  how I see them, crystal clear. The days gone by, far and near. The winsome wisps of all the faces, how I long for all their traces. The ways gone by, all the places. The simple smiles, curling lips, how I see them, memory slips. The days gone by, movie clips. The little habits from the past, how I see them, frozen fast. The ways gone by, vices last. The silent someones in my mind, how I see them, people blind. The days gone by, still unwind. The aged specters in my thoughts, how I see them, phantoms wrought. The ways gone by, futures bought. The hope that lingers in the soul, how I see them, when they're whole. The days gone by, no one to fool. The memories linger in the sun, how I see them, on the run. The ways gone by, come undone. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ image by:  Hugh Chevallier, CC-BY-SA-2.0, via Wikimedia Commons If you enjoy this poem, you can find more o...

dark

dark Desperation and grief, steal life like a thief. Darkness and oppression, become complete obsession. Sadness slips to unbelief. Grimly search for sweet relief. Bleak and dreary soul possession, gloomy words make their impression Blackness shows dark affusion. Hope appears, an illusion. Light, shielded, comes too late. Fear is found as fortune's fate. Tears result in mad effusion. Glee and joy are dawn's delusion. Misery wounds in winding plait. Gushing horrors sudden spate. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ image:  By Chuki888 CC-BY-SA-3.0, via Wikimedia Commons

Sun hides

Frigid Skies Sun hides Sun hides behind frigid skies. Clouds gather to reinforce winter’s hold. Winter 's frozen gusts bind me in its icy grip. Spring's first robin, stiff, sits grimly on the path. Wind's howl of desperation echoes in winter's caves. Rigid season's grasp holds long, unmoving, as Sun struggles, unable to break through frozen sky. Sun waits beneath white blizzard’s bleak blanket. Snow’s cocoon wraps the globe in gray glacial glory. Winter’s arctic blast immerses a white, wintry world in a frostbitten, perplexing polar vortex. Lonely Sun waits for Winter’s stranglehold to cease, so Sun’s rays may melt freezing figures, and immobile denizens of earth shall spring to life. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ image by:  By DR04 CC-BY-3.0, via Wikimedia Commons

Romance and Love

Bogart and Bacall Romance and Love Romance swells our hearts and souls. We long for love, yearn for love, hunger for love. Our American culture surrounds us with images, movies and stories of love. Writers and poets have written stories about love from time immemorial. We mark our lives by stages of love. Our first kiss, our first date, our first love, our first heartbreak fill our adolescence and early adulthood. We spend the rest of our years waiting for love, loving or grieving lost love. Romance is part of our human existence. I asked a rhetorical question in this poem: What is Love? I believe there are stages or phases of love or romance. I have listed these below and have linked to poems that I have written to celebrate that aspect of love. (I haven't yet written a poem for all categories.) They are in a general order of how love progresses for some in the course of love's journey. (This is not accounting for maternal, paternal or filial love or love ...
the wound the wound, has pierced him full and deep, he feels it throbbing, in his sleep. the gaping lesion's liquid seeps as he moans but never weeps. a woeful tone escapes his lips, he feels the pulsing, painful drips. the weapon's handle that he grips, is held fast by his fingertips. the thrust she made, like a knife, cut his soul and took his life. the bleeding core, was not from strife, but from love's tokens that ran rife. he wore the wound with sinful pride, the cut was from his beaming bride. her love's the weapon buried in his side, he bears it proudly and love not denied. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ image:  By Iamthebesttoday (Own work) [CC-BY-SA-3.0, via Wikimedia Commons
As I As I breathe the air of our love, I float on buoyant clouds of joy. I hover above the ground. I glide in the poetry of emotion. As I hold your lithe loveliness, I touch a sweet mist of elation. I sense the essence of gladness. I caress the reality of your being. As I merge with your being, I become one with your spirit, I know your deepest, inner life, I feel your glowing love for me. As I savor the sweetness of your soul, I taste the fullness of your mouth, I am inebriated by your nectar. I stagger, intoxicated by your love. As I mingle with your memories, I see our unity on display. I resonate with pleasing music. I reverberate our potent melody. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ image:  By greyerbaby

Arrows

Cupid's Arrows Arrows Cupid's arrows fly at will, Seeking hearts to wound and thrill. The object of a heart's desire, a soul, ablaze with burning fire. No one knows when love will come, or which direction the arrow's from. So we sit and watch and wait, until the arrow strikes; true and straight. The arrows fly toward their marks, wounded hearts, flying sparks. Hearts, bruised, raw and sore, bursting love, wanting more. Beating, pulsing, throbbing true, beloved reaches, bleeding through. So we love and ache and care, because the arrows reach us there. Cupid's art affects us all, big, little, great or small. Hearts, blinded, made deaf, too. Love's power pierces through, deep inside of me and you. Boring deep, turning screw. No one left, all have known love has found us all alone. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤  image:  Léon Bazille Perrault [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons

Her

Her Her molten presence inflamed me today. My blood began to boil and roil, turn to lava. My tongue, rolled, swelled, left me tongue-tied. My heart raced, sizzled, bubbled, with heat of love.  My skin scorched, electric fever singed my face. Her ebullient embraces emboldened me today. My mind raced and traced the lines of her face. My lips mentioned and meditated on her name. My voice declared the delight of her deliciousness. My song echoed the majesty of her elegant essence. Her glorious graces engulfed my life today. My spirit soared in salubrious circles around her. My soul searched each sense to find her beauty. My being was buoyed by knowing her completely. My eternity was infinite in each experience of her glory. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤  image:  greyerbaby

Man of iron

Man of iron Man of iron, molten fist, see him rising from the mist. Bold, brazen, stalwart, tall, see him standing o'er them all. Chiseled chin, set like flint see his eyes, bravery's glint. Courage true, resists the bad, see his heart, golden clad. Heart is strong, tender touch, power proven, in the clutch. Army at his beck and call, surging forces, rise and fall. Towering over fiend and foe, hero's stature, victory show. Enemies fought on every ground, in the end, none are found. Triumph trumpets, blazing win, beaten enemy, much chagrin. Electric glory, amazing stand, renown resounds, o'er the land.  Man of iron, molten fist, praise by all within the list. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ Image:  dewey_decimals CC-BY-SA-2.0, via Wikimedia Commons

unscathed?

unscathed? Who among us goes through life,  unscathed? The heart probed, poked, pierced. Bloody, dripping, open wet wounds: Some scars, some now callused,  fresh ones, scabbed. Untended, unmended, upended. Who among us goes through life, unloved? Love's needs unmet. The beating, throbbing, pulsing pressure of unreturned love, reverberates in chest's gaping canyon. Love unrequited shrinks, sinks the heart. The unfelt heart laughs, jumps, cries, yearns, longs, full, and sings-not. Shudders, shakes, shivers, quivers, trembles, bubbles over, helpless heart. Who among us goes through life, unscathed? © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ Image:  © Nevit Dilmen [CC-BY-SA-3.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0) via Wikimedia Commons

Koala Bears

A G+ friend  +ashley bateson  said he read a  children's poem  I wrote to a five year old friend of his. She said she liked it, but said it needed a koala bear. So, I wrote a poem about koala bears. I hope she enjoys it (and all of you)! Koala Bears Australia is the place they stay, in the trees they spend their day. Plump and fuzzy koala bears, they have funny, hairy ears. If you call them bears, it's not unusual, the real name is of course, marsupial. Sharp claws help them to climb, see them in a tree sometime. Koalas like eucalyptus trees, love to chew upon the leaves. Sit in nooks or forks to sleep for eighteen hours, what a treat! A smell like cough drops fill the air, from the leaves they eat up there. Cheeks are stuffed, they eat so many, they need to find trees aplenty! When not in trees they run so fast, hurry, look, they run right past! Pouches are where baby cubs stay, on mommy's belly joeys love to lay. Do you h...

G+ smiles

G+ smiles A little bit of wit, A little bit of humor, A little bit of cynicism. Jocularities abound, innuendos resound, poetic teasing all around where this motley crew is found. Smiling faces, not a frown, some are up, some are down, a few Jokers and some Clowns can be seen in this G+ Town! Gifs, jpegs, photos, and some memes, photoshopping--nothing's what it seems! Kittens, puppies, and horsey screams, sunshine, rainbows and bright moon beams. G+ offers much to all, stock tips, health tips, have a ball, hangouts, communities, fun for all. Chat with friends, even call. A little bit of lols, a little bit of hahas, a little bit of sarcasm. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ If you enjoyed this poem, find more of my writing  here.

Invulnerable

Invulnerable Love has tried to pierce my armor, I’ve resisted every female charmer. Love has tried to strike my shield, I’ve refused to drop arms I wield. Love has failed to pierce my skin, I’ve refused to let woman’s love in. I’ve repulsed Cupid’s arrow’s aim, Love has yet to stake a claim. I’ve rebuked all words l’amour, Love has not filled me more. I’ve repelled romantic notions, Love has not served me love potions. Love has tried to open wide, Thick and callused heart I hide. Love has tried to find my heart, Hidden deep inside my deepest part. Love has yet to burst the bubble; I’ve encased myself from love’s trouble. I’ve escaped the painful fate, Love’s not reached my inner state. I’ve achieved the foolish feat, Love has left me incomplete. I’ve forgotten love’s majestic feel, Love has made my heart like steel. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤  If you enjoyed this poem, find more of my writing  here, Image by:  G...

Winter's Way

Winter's Way Snow swirls and settles softly, down. Frozen ponds and pine trees are painted white. Winter wind whirls, swirls and twirls in circles, up and down, in and out. Drifting snow piles high here and there. Snow birds flitter, flutter and forage,  then, hurry to their roosts to nestle. Bright moon shines and the ice reflects it's beams between snowflakes and flurries. December's icy blanket covers field and hills. Blustery nights turn into biting cold days. Frosted roads crunch beneath sleighs led by huffing, puffing mares.  Mufflers, mittens or gloves cover frigid hands. Earmuffs, overcoats, and scarves stave off shivers. Snowbound sledders find space  to steer down slippery slopes. Firewood crackles in the fireplace. Snuggled beneath fleece throws, we counter polar storms and ice-kissed frigid gales. Jack Frost's season overwhelms  and overblows with solstice ice-flowers. © 2013 ajwrites57 A Lon...
