Summer sheds his thermal coat
Sun retreats from beaming heat
Day gets shorter by cool minutes

Skin fades from summer tan
Mind recalls summer's fun
Heart beats to summer past

Evening sends his cooler breeze
Moon lingers longer than before
Stars appear in different places

Body bids for more clothes
Nose sneezes at ragweed
Feet feel the need for socks

Tree shakes off browning leaves
Harvest slows his ripened gifts
School bids the children come

Fun changes ways to enjoy
Summer season sadly departs
Autumn paints fall colors anew
