Rudolph

Rudolph Rudolph enjoys the Winter Sun, Frolics in downy snow for fun. Tries to hide his funny, red nose, Some have even said: "It glows!" Little reindeer romps and plays, chasing snowflakes all the days. Left out of  the Reindeer Games, bullies call dear Rudolph names. Finds his solace in sweet Clarice. They love the snow and winter's peace. Igloos made from snow banks, hidden. They rub their noses. Oh! Fun, forbidden! A glowing nose is hard to hide. Rudolph covers in shameful pride. Nose shines strong in darkest night. the ruddy glow of reindeer's light. Christmas comes; so does a storm. Rudolph's home, safe and warm. Santa remembers reindeer's light, knows it may guide safely tonight. Santa calls for little reindeer's help to lead his team; deliver Christmas wealth. Nine reindeer in front of Santa's sleigh, Rudolph's reined first, to lead the way. Merry Christmas...

old friends

old friends searched online for former friends surprised to see untimely ends friends, their spouses, moms and dads sad to see the deaths they had the inexorable tick and tock of time, leads us all to fields, sublime through twisting, turning hands of fate, soon we'll all be known as "late" years roll on, time is passed no one knows how long it lasts each life is counted out by days as friends we oft go separate ways friend's faces show the lines of age as each one turns his separate page fools fleeting time waits for no man eighty years our lives may span so count your days with special care for who knows how, who knows where our beating hearts will one day stop find old friends before they drop © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ Image adapted:  By SDRandCo via morguefile.com

yesteryear

yesteryear Crystalline memories of yesteryear, framed like snapshots, seem so clear. Viewed from a distance, recall, true, focused images, seem like new. Remembered visions of days gone by, like photograph's ingrained in mind's eye. Recalled days and unforgotten nights, remain deep within mind's sights. Faces of people, recollected facts, preserved like scenes from plays' First Acts. Impressions gathered, treasured pictures, likeness imagined, permanent fixtures. Someone's there from the long ago past, like photos handled and preserved to last. Smiling, laughing, sometimes somber faces, saved like etched glass, remembered graces. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ Image by:  VintagePhotos By gracey
For you, my friends ❤ ❤ ❤ For you, my friends, I wish the best. May all your loves be richly blessed. May every kiss you kiss remain. May each embrace your love sustain.   ❤ ❤ ❤ For you, my friends, I pray you peace, May all your days of trouble cease. May all your hours be filled with light. May God grant you sleep at night.    ❤ ❤ ❤ For you, my friends, as you grow old, May all you touch turn to gold. May every pathway lead to glory. May endless joy be your life story.    ❤ ❤ ❤ © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ Image:  By robenmarie If you like this poem, you can find more of my writing  here.
one wonders Through  the  lonesome  days and lonely ways one wanders and one wonders. How can one be so alone? How can one be so thrown? Friendship fails and loss prevails and wounds assail one's heart. Friends have come and friends have gone, ne'er the twain shall meet. Friends who are sometimes friends are  always friends no more. Friends with masks and two-faces ask with tongues forked and fingers crossed behind their backs for friendship, but do not know the meaning. The solitary times with no rhythm or rhymes lead to heart less, solo crimes. Eremetic lives lived under grey skies soon despise companion's ties. So as one wanders and one wonders, alone, can hope abide where tears were cried and emptiness has resided? How can one be turned around from friendless rounds to friend filled towns, one wanders and one wonders? © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ Adapted image:  By jdurham

Empty Heart

Empty Heart This hollow hall, has seen them all. Some took a seat along the wall. The lines of chairs were ready then, some came and were gone again. One by one, in they came, row by row, none the same. Some brought love, many were friends. Some swore friendship until the end. Seats were worn by many stays, many promised to mend their ways. On some places lies were spoken, in other spaces, bonds were broken. Many have come, few have stayed. All the games have been played. Some have left a token on each seat, some leave memories, bittersweet. So, many chairs are empty here, row by row, now, few are here. This hollow hall, has seen them all, seats were taken by big and small. Men and women have left their mark, the lights unlit, now cold and dark. Footsteps echo against the walls, silence reigns, no more footfalls. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ Image by:  Joe Mabel - Everett Floral Hall Interior CC-BY-SA-3.0, ...

less full

grey cloud days less full grey cloud days, hope less ways, i wander long, joy less haze. path less journey, fill my roads, world weary legs, burden borne loads. friend less futures, glean flat emotions, faith less times, motion less oceans. bleak full minutes, mark each hour, blank bland seconds, power less cower. heart less actions, leads choice's chance, remorse full fails, step less dance. time less present, gloom full date, guide each moment, blind fortune's fate. dark's full miasma, makes men melt, will less wisdom, fear full felt. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ Image:  By krosseel

still trace

still trace I can  still trace her face from memory: her girlish smile, the ticklish cleft above her lip, her full, pink, kissable, lips, the curve  of her cheeks, the way her  hair curled on the side  of her head, the way her  nose crinkled when she  smiled  at me, her sunny,  sandy, soft,  blonde hair  that hung down  around her  smooth, round, shoulders, the dimples that pulled me  into them, every,  time,  she smiled. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤

two faces

two faces each one has two faces, each face plays a part, each one shows traces, of a traitor in the heart. each one makes decisions, each face turns aside, each one shows divisions, of betrayals that they hide. each one loves another, each face from the start, each face shows a brother, of deception made an art. each one tries to cover, each face turns aside, each failure to be faithful, each face that has denied. each one weeps together, each face sheds real tears, each painful deed tethers, each heart full of fears. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ By Bryan Derksen, CC-BY-SA-3.0, via Wikimedia Commons

Romance and Love

Bogart and Bacall Romance and Love Romance swells our hearts and souls. We long for love, yearn for love, hunger for love. Our American culture surrounds us with images, movies and stories of love. Writers and poets have written stories about love from time immemorial. We mark our lives by stages of love. Our first kiss, our first date, our first love, our first heartbreak fill our adolescence and early adulthood. We spend the rest of our years waiting for love, loving or grieving lost love. Romance is part of our human existence. I asked a rhetorical question in this poem: What is Love? I believe there are stages or phases of love or romance. I have listed these below and have linked to poems that I have written to celebrate that aspect of love. (I haven't yet written a poem for all categories.) They are in a general order of how love progresses for some in the course of love's journey. (This is not accounting for maternal, paternal or filial love or love ...
As I As I breathe the air of our love, I float on buoyant clouds of joy. I hover above the ground. I glide in the poetry of emotion. As I hold your lithe loveliness, I touch a sweet mist of elation. I sense the essence of gladness. I caress the reality of your being. As I merge with your being, I become one with your spirit, I know your deepest, inner life, I feel your glowing love for me. As I savor the sweetness of your soul, I taste the fullness of your mouth, I am inebriated by your nectar. I stagger, intoxicated by your love. As I mingle with your memories, I see our unity on display. I resonate with pleasing music. I reverberate our potent melody. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ image:  By greyerbaby

G+ smiles

G+ smiles A little bit of wit, A little bit of humor, A little bit of cynicism. Jocularities abound, innuendos resound, poetic teasing all around where this motley crew is found. Smiling faces, not a frown, some are up, some are down, a few Jokers and some Clowns can be seen in this G+ Town! Gifs, jpegs, photos, and some memes, photoshopping--nothing's what it seems! Kittens, puppies, and horsey screams, sunshine, rainbows and bright moon beams. G+ offers much to all, stock tips, health tips, have a ball, hangouts, communities, fun for all. Chat with friends, even call. A little bit of lols, a little bit of hahas, a little bit of sarcasm. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ If you enjoyed this poem, find more of my writing  here.

I saw you

I saw you When I saw you sitting on the swing, I didn't think I'd be thinking the things I'm thinking, the things I'm thinking of you, fill my heart. When I saw you walking in the park, I didn't think I'd be singing, the songs I'm singing, the songs I'm singing of you, fill my heart. When I saw you dancing in the meadow, I didn't think I'd be writing, the poems I'm writing, the poems I'm writing of you, fill my heart. When I saw you laughing in the sunshine, I didn't think I'd be writing, the stories I'm writing, the stories I'm writing of you, fill my heart. When I saw you flowing in my memory, I didn't think I'd be writing, the sonnets I'm writing, the sonnets I'm writing of you, fill my heart. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ Photo by: Stefanomas

Windswept Days

Tempest Windswept Days These are windswept weary days of life, torn by stifled, splintered strife, often between a man and wife. These days full of chaos swirl, tossed and turned to twist and twirl, often suspend them in a whirl. These days remembered, moment's pain, lodge themselves in depth of brain, often powered hurts remain. These days of aching tempests pound, push these woeful thoughts aground, often only these are found. These melancholic images dance, forgotten pictures of romance, often lose their second chance. These days and more crush, pull, unwanted feelings, lover's fool, often only heart's frozen pool. © 2013 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ Image by: Ivan Aivazovsky [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons

We gather

We gather We gather round glowing fire, Kindred spirits, friends conspire. We find a place at this hour, Hope and love and super power. We gather in this sacred place, Arm and arm, heart embrace. We find depth within this space, Strength and peace and super grace. We gather in this passing time Mind to mind, perfect rhyme, We find soul rest, spirits climb, Faith and comfort and life sublime. We gather in a hidden sphere, Elided egos, union clear. We find joy’s eternal cheer, Orbs and knots and super dear. We merge at this precious hour, Hearts encircled, melded here. We find friends at this loving time, Life and feeling and super share.  © 2013 ajwrites57 A Long ❤  ❤  ❤  Photo:  By Steve Ball CC-BY-SA-3.0, via Wikimedia Commons

My heart, feels

My heart, feels  My heart, feels naught tonight. No feeling felt, no hope or light. My heart's numb, no wrong or right. No pain or pleasure, no black, no white. My heart, feels no thing today, No colors seen, only grey. My heart's frozen, icy flay. No joy or gladness, painful splay. My heart, feels none, any of you, No emotions shared, not one clue. My heart's shut, tight with glue. No smiles or kisses, aching blue. My heart, feels, lost and alone. No tender touch, touch unknown. My heart's cry, silent groan. No hugs or holding, no hand's zone. © 2013 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤

am i not the you you knew?

am i not the you you knew? where is yesterday's friend,   the one that vowed to love, to the very end? where is yesterday's love,   the one that vowed eternal love? is today's friend destined to travel the same path, too? is today's friend tomorrow's used to be, too? why do friendships come and go?   am i the bad guy you used to know? you took a part of this broken heart,   a thousand pieces strewn about. the time we spent, the days we shared,   it surely seemed you cared. a person here, a person there,   now you're gone to who knows where. once i tried to name you all,   left me sad, beneath a funerary pall.   once i tried to forget you all,   you visit me in my dreams and all. you visit me there, but never here,   at times i wake and i'm in tears. when i wake it hits me that   forgotten times have turned to crimes. i knew you once you knew me too,   now you're gone and you're not you...
