Poetics of Poe

Edgar Allan Poe was born on January 19, 1809. I wrote this poem to commemorate his writing on his birthday! Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) Poetics of Poe Poetics of Poe fill the night, ghostly figures, ghastly plight. Ravens, masques, run reddish hues, corpses lined by threes and twos. Ringing bells sound and thrill, specters haunting, horror's fill. Lost loves, loves's ladies gone, pacing, praying for the dawn. The heart longs for maidens fair, only faint images stir the air. Metaphysics, detection, too, puzzles linger there for you. Beating hearts, ticking clocks, seeing eye, seeing mocks. Fleeting memories fill his lines, faintly phrasing, heart repines. Thank you Edgar, for all of these. Evermore your words will please. © 2014 ajwrites57 A Long ❤ ❤ ❤ Image:  By Amelia Poe [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons
